Latest Cabinet Design Trends

At one time the only decision you needed to make about kitchen cabinetry is whether you wanted wood or white. Today, colorful cabinets are not only available, they are popular. Adding a pop of color is not at all uncommon. Glass-fronted cabinets are used for accent pieces. These can give your kitchen a touch of style and class, providing  visual interest compared to a traditional kitchen where all of the cabinets are closed. This extends the feel of an “open kitchen” and can make the room feel even bigger.

Kitchen Cabinet Trends: What’s Out?

Wood, particularly dark stained wood is considered “out” at the moment. The most important thing to remember is that even if something is “out,” it is all about finding something that works for you. Right now stained wood is not hugely popular. However, if you love the look of dark wood, maybe you would like the look of a deep chocolate painted cabinet? Or perhaps a mixed finished kitchen with a combination of wood and painted cabinets will work best.

Classic Finishes Are Always Hot

Splash-Of-ColorWhen it comes down to it, going with a classic is always smart. White finishes, light woods and even black can be smart decisions. The best thing about a classic finish is that even if they aren’t the absolute most popular choice today, they will not look dated in five, ten or even fifteen years—like something more exotic may. Plus, you can always add color in other unexpected ways.
